The National Labor Observatory (NLO) released its monthly report on the Saudi Arabian private sector job market for June 2024 today, providing a wealth of statistical details highlighting the sector’s growth and its ability to attract Saudi citizens.
The report indicates a significant increase in the total number of workers in the private sector, reaching 11,409,348 by the end of June 2024, compared to the previous month. This continuous rise underscores the private sector’s growing appeal and its capacity to create new job opportunities for both Saudis and expatriates alike.
Female Participation in the Saudi Labor Market
The distribution of private sector employees is balanced in terms of nationality and gender, with the workforce comprising 2,340,877 Saudi citizens and 9,068,471 expatriate workers. Among the Saudi employees, 1,383,079 are males and 957,798 are females. This demonstrates an increasing participation of Saudi women in the workforce.
The NLO’s report also highlighted the continued growth in jobs for Saudi citizens within the private sector. In June alone, 16,598 new Saudi citizens were employed in this sector for the first time. This growth is attributed to the government’s persistent efforts to support the employment of Saudis and enhance their participation across various economic sectors.
Emphasizing the value of the data in its report, the NLO confirmed its importance as a reliable reference that aids in understanding labor market dynamics and making strategic future decisions. The NLO remains committed to releasing periodic reports that offer comprehensive statistical analyses of different aspects of the labor market, including the monthly ‘Overview of the Saudi Labor Market in the Private Sector’ publication.
The labor market in Saudi Arabia is witnessing a dynamic expansion, with noteworthy advancements in employment rates and the integration of Saudi women into the workforce, signaling a promising future for the country’s economic and social development.
