Women’s Share in the Saudi Workforce Hits 34% by End of 2023
According to a recent official Saudi report, the total number of women occupying leadership positions within the Kingdom’s workforce has reached 1,707.
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources revealed in its report that women have benefited from the leadership training and guidance initiative for female cadres, surpassing the Vision 2030 target of achieving 1,000 women in leadership roles.
The report further highlighted that the total number of women who took part in the training program ‘Our Hands Incubator’ as a part of the initiative to develop productive projects for those interested in freelance work stood at around 320 beneficiaries in the past year, exceeding the planned figure of 310.
It was noted that the year 2023 marked numerous positive figures for women in the labor market. Compared to 2017, their share in the workforce has soared to unprecedented levels across various sectors.
From a 21.2% share in 2017, women’s participation in the labor market climbed to 34%. Their economic participation rate doubled from 17% to 35.5%, and the percentage of women in middle and high management positions rose from 28.6% to 43.8%.
The transformative impact on women’s empowerment is evident as about 234,000 women benefited from the transportation support program (Wusool), and 1.6 million women took advantage of the professional guidance initiative for school students.
Back in April, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development reported that 89% of remote workers in the Kingdom are women. Local newspaper ‘Al-Eqtisadiah’ indicated that out of 158,591 individuals working remotely, 140,570 are Saudi women.
